Iceland’s weather is as varied as its incredible landscape. Packing for a trip to Iceland and doing a phototour can be complex. You need to prepare for all kinds of weather conditions even though you are travelling just for few days. Make sure to pack smart and stay warm and dry with our quick tips bew
All season essentials clothes
Here’s a sample packing list of items you should bring with you regardless of the time of year you’re travelling:
Fleece jacket/lightweight wool sweater
Warm jacket for northern lights, sometime you are staying out for long time and not moving around much.
Rainproof/windproof jacket - Gortex
Rain pants / gloves / Hat (toque/beanie)
Sturdy walking shoes with a good tread/grip - rubber boots for rivers, waves and Diamond beach.
Thermal underwear (specifically for highland travel/activities)
Waterproof hiking boots (specifically for highland travel/activities)
Warm socks (specifically for winter and highland travel/activities)
Headlight for evening shots.
Temperatures do not often drop below freezing during Icelandic winter, but an insulated jacket is recommended due to the cool northerly winds.
And as sidewalks can get icy and slippery, you may want to bring ice cleats, ice grips or anti-slip soles to give your shoes better traction. These can also be purchased in Iceland at various shops, like outdoor clothing stores.
Camera gear
DSRL camera that is good for all kinds of weather, good for landscape, nature and northern lights.
Various lenses; 16-35mm for landscape and norhtern lights, 24-70mm for people and longer lens for landscape and animals, puffins. Its good to have bright lenses.
Steady and sturdy tripod that can stand the wind here in Iceland, you also need to use it in the water.
Filters for waterfalls and waves. Quailty filters like Lee, Nisi and Kase. 3, 6, 10 stoppers, graduate and reverse.
Big cloth to wipe water off your camera/lens when you are close to waterfall and waves on the beach
Few memory cards and batteries
Remote control for northern lights
You can also bring a drone and use it where it is allowed. Take off and land far from people and dont fly over them. Dont use it when its windy and raining. Bring 4-5 batteries. 
Waterproof acitions cameras can also be interesting for closer shots of waterfalls and waves.
